No doubt, former procrastinators, you too, have fumbled through your purse or a pile of papers looking for a receipt so you can return an expensive item. It’s frustrating. It’s also avoidable with a filing system that works for you and your family.
We finally went searching for one and found what works for us. It has made tax preparation much easier the last few years. A boost to godly stewardship.
A good filing system will contain the essentials, but it will also be customizable for your particular needs. You do have to use it. Once you teach yourself to drop things right away into their appropriate folders, you’ll not have to hunt high and low for missing papers again. It’s delightful to walk to your file and pull out what you want!
You may find it beneficial to set up files of your design for school papers, local information, etc. Not for essential papers, but for others we use, we have a file cabinet in the garage. Handy. Here’s a kickstart for your search.
The Freedom Filer System
This one above recommends the Freedom Filer System. We find it very helpful at our house. It’s worth the pre-printed tabs; they send more you can write on. (I receive no financial benefit from this endorsement.)
