2025 Year End Review – See. Perceive. Act.

28Dec

Review, former procrastinators, helps reinforce what God wants to emphasize.  For me, it’s these:

  • Quarterly planning helps me focus and keep moving.

  • Ask God to connect me with the people He desires.  Initiate interaction even if I’m new.  Let God pick my friends.

  • Clutter creates stress, often causing love and respect to suffer.

  • Sometimes I have to leave another person’s issues between him and God.  Exercise patience and set healthy boundaries (agreed upon if possible).  It’s a challenge if we live together but value different things.

  • I have limitations because God made me with a human frame and placed me in time.  I cannot do everything.  Recognize the essentials.

  • Sometimes I need to show myself grace.  Sometimes I need to be a bit ruthless.

  • Sometimes my attitude overwhelms me, not the job.

  • To deal with a large project, cut off two flowing faucets:  Stop adding to the work load. Stop activities that prevent focus on the job.

  • Asking “What CAN I do?” removes helplessness and confusion.  It moves me forward.  One small thing can release a log jam.

  • Evaluate.  Change what doesn’t work.

  • Multitasking splits my focus and hinders me.

  • Making decisions based on faulty assumptions leads to unwise action.  Ask God for discernment.  Ask others questions that clarify.

  • Emotions want immediate gratification.  This short-term view prevents appropriate action.  Emotions are important, but they generally resist diligence. Sometimes action is more important.

  • Feeling and action do not have to match.  Diligence does not require motivation.

  • Motivation depends on emotion. Self-control is more reliable.

  • I’m not naturally like Jesus, so the Lord works in me to make me like Him.  I have the confident joy that it will also be for my good.

  • If the Lord directs that I do something, I must build that into my routine as a priority.

  • Routine helps me accomplish the most important things. Without it, frustration builds.

  • If make goals super small and act daily, I’ll accomplish them sooner than if I work in big time chunks  – and I’ll form a habit.

  • Mini habits cooperate with my brain and give daily success.

  • Priorities are the few most important things I should be doing.  Routine makes priorities part of my everyday pattern.  Mini habits provide easy action for daily progress on priorities.

  • Training myself and my children (self-control, routine) is hard.  Not training is harder to live with in the present and the future.  Training equals investment.

  • Viewing activities as channels available for learning and contribution, I more clearly discern where I should participate.

  • ”All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Go therefore, and make disciples..”  I am authorized and sent.

  • Only two things last:  God’s Word and people’s souls. For atreasure that lasts, invest in making disciples.  Teach one person to trust Christ, obey His commands, and teach others to do the same.
