Of course, I have a New Year’s resolution for procrastination! I am totally revved!
I love an empty page, a clean white board, a fresh start – and a New Year!
A chance to do something new or do something ordinary a different way makes my engine hum.
With new opportunity comes fresh hope and that is invigorating. My best hope comes from God’s Word. I know that’s reliable. If He commands me to do something, He will also enable me to do it. If He promises something, He will come through with it. I can count on Him.
That’s why I’m so excited about my resolution. I know it pleases the Lord and He will help me be faithful. Will I stumble, fall, fail? Definitely. Will He help me carry on anyway and know victory? Yes!
Here it is: Walk Free!
My resolve comes from Galations 5:1, 16.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage‚ĶWalk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”
God has set me free through Christ. He has positioned me a free woman. I am liberated in the truest sense because I am free of the penalty of my sin and free of the chains that bind me to sin. Therefore He wants me to live – walk – in that freedom by walking in the Spirit whose power He gives me to do that.
The bent to procrastinate lures me to stay in bondage. I refuse to stay in bondage to procrastination! By the power of Almighty God, I will WALK FREE. The word picture helps.
For me, walk free means 1) get out of tangled messes, and 2) avoid new ones. Get out. Stay out.
I am in some tangled messes now that I created by not working in season. Every time I do something that chips away at a job, (make that clip away at a tangle of briars) I get closer to walking free.
As new things arise, every time I am diligent to do what needs doing when it needs doing, I walk free and avoid the yoke of bondage. Hallelujah! See why I am revved?
In this year 2015, will you join me and resolve to Walk Free? Tell us!
