Merry Christmas!
Those of us bent toward procrastination can celebrate Christmas with great joy! Our Father God promised a Savior and He came!
I need Him badly – and He Came! My sins are many, but I am especially aware of slothfulness and its hurtful ramifications. Jesus came for me. Hallelujah!
Luke 3:18-19 describes the beautiful Savior we celebrate:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,” Jesus Christ, the anointed one, has the authority to address my sin and deal with it. He came to pay the price for my sin and set me free!
“… because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor;” I am poorer and needier than I realize. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. He helps me see I am totally dependent on Him for going to heaven and for victorious living on earth. He came to save and transform me!
“He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,” I am sick about the harm I have caused myself and others by being slothful. I cannot undo my selfish past. Jesus guides me through accepting responsibility, asking forgiveness, and repenting sincerely. He forgives and He heals the hurts. He heals the crooked thinking and selfish heart that led to bad habits. He came to heal me and those I hurt!
“‚Ķ To proclaim liberty to the captives” I played into the hands of the enemy. I entered a prison of my own making. I need out. He came to set me free!
“..and recovery of sight to the blind” I have been blinded by self-justification. He came to give me clear vision for His purpose!
“To set at liberty those who are oppressed;” The enemy built a stronghold in my life and governed me from there. With twisted thinking, I lived under constant pressure of slothful habits. He came to free me from tyrannical rule!
“To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” I do not measure up. Christ came in God’s appointed time to reconcile me to the Father and set me free!
“Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
This week we can rejoice! He came!
