Somehow, I’d missed it, former procrastinators. Months ago my friend Ana referred to a characteristic Jesus Himself named as a mark of His disciples. “Wait. Jesus spelled out traits of His disciples?” Yes, she said and reeled off the references. There are five. I’ve been thinking about them ever since, especially as they apply to…
Only two things last, former procrastinators. I was taught that from the time I came to salvation in Christ. If only two things last, don’t we want to give them the biggest part of our energy and attention? Don’t we want to invest in those things the most? Wouldn’t those two things shape our thinking…
Former procrastinators, scripture has spoken. Truly, we have a mandate unlike any other. Putting off sharing the gospel dishonors the One who gave Himself for us. God is amazingly patient, merciful, and loving. He is Redeemer and Judge, Savior and Commander. We love Him because He first loved us. Our job is to be available…
Here, former procrastinators, are more objections to evangelism. This is something many of us put off. As I work through these thoughts, I’m perceiving the real roots of my objections. KJV says “Lo, I am with you always.” My dear mentor said, “We want the ‘Lo’ without the ‘Go.’” Let us go! We are authorized….
We’re shifting gears, former procrastinators. This topic comes to mind now because folks get out more in the fall. They linger and chat. Opportunities to interact increase. Do you delay, former procrastinators, until you feel motivated? Let’s be realistic. Motivation may show up – and it may never show up. An author told me he required himself to be at his desk writing at 8 a.m. “Otherwise,” he said, “I’d be ‘inspired’ to go fishing.” Emotions and self-control are both God’s design. …
Talk of summer, former procrastinators, prompts me to recall favorite memories from childhood. Maybe my recollections will prompt yours and also prompt “spin off ideas” that you can use in the next few weeks. Don’t wait to implement your ideas. Summer days slip by faster than others. The best feeling was not having to do…
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
Proverbs 6:6-8
. . . you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
Colossians 3:9-10
