God likes celebrations! Just consider, former procrastinators, the feasts He directed. It pleases Him when we honor Him with joy and festivities. We’re about to enter a season of celebration – Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s. Instead of dreading the time as a marathon of requirements, we can look forward to it as opportunity to express joy and gratitude. We can treasure the chance to enjoy others and help them enjoy celebrating.
To better enjoy, relax. Give up expectations of perfection. Skip the tension that comes from worry about how things will work out. It’s hard to celebrate when you’re all tied up inside.
Remember the foundation on which you walk out your life – His love and the security of eternal life in Him. Remember to wiggle those toes and shoulders; limber yourself up to loosen mental, physical, and emotional knots. Remember actually doing the work without delay brings relief – and more reason to celebrate.
The biggest reason to rejoice: He is once and constant.
Have fun yourself with this year’s celebrations. Everyone else will enjoy it more.
What’s the most fun for you when you celebrate?
I love to celebrate seasons with my family. I think Christmas is the time that my family puts up with all my craziness the most ,of wanting them around from beginning to end~ I always love settling down early in the morning with my coffee, my Bible, my Book or computer, and listening to Christian Contemporary music and a message about my Lord~ but I love it even more when I know I have tons to do and sit down in the middle of my little mess and do my prayer and praise time. I am not a list maker because I either lose my list or never remember to mark stuff off. I decided about a year ago to make a “reminder list” instead of a task list. It works for me! I mess up daily, but I don’t miss my time with God! I am excited about the upcoming holidays because I know they won’t be perfect~They aren’t supposed to be!
Viki, this is wonderful for setting the tOne! I like that so much- the holidays arent supposed to be perfect! And how good that youve figureD out what works for you with your reminder list Good going!
