Are you busy, former procrastinators? Of course! I hope you’re busy laughing, listening to little ones, sharing joyful moments with family, friends, and strangers too. We have these “holy days” so we can celebrate the birth of the Messiah, the anointed King who came to save His people. This is amazing!
Yet preparation and participation can occupy us too much. When we run on automatic and overload, we miss Him. He misses us.
I miss the Lord in terms of not thinking about Him, not seeing His hand in the provision of a gift, not stopping to observe a kindness. But do I miss Him as in longing for Him?
And what about His missing me? That is a wondrous thing! To think Jesus wants me is utterly beyond my comprehension.
It’s not that He misses me as in he takes roll call and I’m not there. No, His heart longs for my heart.
This morning I thought about Jesus’s feelings. I imagined His saying:
“I came for you. Look at me. I love you. I miss you when you forget me or act like I’m just an add-on. I want to be your everything. Because I love you.”
What delight will you share this week with the Man who came to give Himself for you?
I loved reading this. My heart can feel Christ calling us in the way that you wrote, asking us to look, to see, to “be His everything”! Thank you for this special Holliday Gift!
