Your input is helping, former procrastinators. Please respond to last week’s survey if you’ve not already.
Rejoice in our freedom! We are blessed to have a double portion.
We celebrate the Fourth of July as the time our American forefathers declared the colonies to be free and independent of foreign rule. That led to a long costly battle that did indeed result in American independence. The new nation was free of foreign rule and thus free of the requirements of that rule.
In gratitude for our privileges, we stay on guard, alert and active so that we do not again become entangled with a yoke of bondage as citizens.
When it comes to our freedom from procrastination, God declared us free and actually set us free through the costly sacrifice of Jesus. We are free from the rule of Satan and thus free from the requirements of his rule. We do not have to procrastinate.
In gratitude to God for this blessing, we stay on guard, alert and active so that we do not again become entangled with a yoke of bondage as heavenly citizens.
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage….For you, brethren, have been called to liberty: only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians 5:1, 13
Pastor Tony Evans says “Satan cannot make us sin. He can only tempt us to sin.” The more I think of that, the more excited I become! I am not the subject of the devil. I am the subject of the Holy King. I do His bidding. His delight is what I desire. He even provides the strength and clear thinking I need to obey.
As American citizens, we must maintain freedom and avoid another yoke of bondage. We are free to participate in government, pay attention to issues and dig for the truth, vote, hold officials accountable, donate time and money to those who fight righteous battles. Becoming involved locally is a “Go There!” opportunity. Through love serve one another.
As believers, we must maintain freedom and avoid bondage to procrastination. We are free to do that, fully able, thanks to the Holy Spirit within us! We remember we are not bound to put things off. We make no excuses for neglect, but accept responsibility. We are free to do what needs doing when it needs doing. We Go There! This, too, serves others.
Let’s celebrate our double portion of freedom with great joy!
How will you exercise your earthly and your heavenly citizenship this week?
