A Welcoming Life – Say “Yes” to God
A tribute to a young woman, former procrastinators, inspires me. A tragic car accident took her life, but her influence lives on. Someone speaking of her said, “Jane led a welcoming life. She welcomed other people into her own life – and she welcomed them to Jesus.” He explained that she gladly embraced old friends and new. Welcoming people into her life meant they would also get to know Jesus. She shared Him with everyone she knew.
I want to lead a welcoming life too – a life that is natural, warm, easy including others. I want to take them by the hand and introduce them to my Best Friend who can also be theirs. I want and need to say “yes” to God on this. However, I need some transforming by the Holy Spirit.
By His grace you and I are transforming from procrastinators to diligent women. What joy to be free from the bonds that tied us to putting things off! Now I’m itchy to be free from the bonds that tie me to a “chicken heart” when it comes to “sharing my faith” /“witnessing” /“evangelism.” I care about God’s glory and people’s souls more than ever. But years of hesitation to speak have left me feeling awkward and nervous. God can change that.
For me, saying “yes” without delay in this area means…
- Recognize two things last: God’s Word and people’s souls. Therefore, for my life to make a lasting difference, I must focus on these two things.
- Get help. Prayer first, then God’s people can help me grow. (Books, conversations, their examples, etc.)
- Out of love, act and speak. Remember heavenly rewards far exceed earthly comfort, for both me and the other person.
We are privileged to know Jesus who gave His very life so sinners could be forgiven, united with God, live with divine earthly purpose, and enjoy eternal life with Him. How dare I hoard that blessing? Let me welcome others to Him!
What keeps you from welcoming others into your own life and to Jesus?
