As soldiers of the cross, former procrastinators, God has equipped us to battle temptation effectively. First, He Himself has defeated the enemy. We fight from the position of His victory. Next, He has given us his Word which is truth. Finally, He’s given us the armor for our defensive and offensive use. When the devil…
How, former procrastinators, can we not think about the bait the tempter or self puts out for us? Two illustrations show us exactly how. Our pastor held up an apple. “Don’t think about this apple. Don’t think about it. This apple – don’t think about it. Don’t think about the apple.” What were we thinking…
Don’t think, former procrastinators. Truly. That’s been some of the most helpful counsel to myself. We know we should be thinkers. We should keep our brains engaged. We should not default to mental coasting. Right. But still, there’s an appropriate time for not thinking. It occurs when temptation presents the bait. Don’t think about the…
Happy Mother’s Day, former procrastinators! And many thanks to all you women who nurture others in the love of the Lord. What a good time to remember “momisms” we grew up with – those comments and advice your mom would use in dealing with you. You know, “If everybody else jumped off a cliff, would…

Kitchen counters talk, former procrastinators. They welcome us to space, functionality, and availability. Or they chide us with complaints of overload, confusion, and lack of availability. Their story reveals that cabinets and drawers are the same. (When I say they “talk” I’m using ye old English class personification – not confusing this with the Holy…
Our daughter, former procrastinators, was consistently one of two top salesmen in a women’s clothing department. It wasn’t because she sold the most. It was because she had the fewest returns. (Returns subtract from a salesman’s total.) She’d say, “I think we can find something more complimentary for you.” Or, “If you won’t reach for…
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
Proverbs 6:6-8
. . . you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
Colossians 3:9-10
